In short

What is Indirect Auto Contract Funding?

Software that takes a dealer's deal jacket from the moment it is complete to a funded deal: it checks the signed contract against the credit approval and the dealer program, clears the stipulations, and tells the funding analyst whether to fund or pend. Indirect Auto Contract Funding does this with six agents and leaves every funding decision to a person.

The problem

Why a deal approved in minutes still waits days to fund

The credit decision comes back while the buyer is still at the dealership. Then the deal jacket arrives — the signed retail installment contract, the buyer's order, the add-on forms, the odometer disclosure, the title application and the stips — and a funding analyst has to prove, term by term, that the contract is the deal credit approved: amount financed, rate and markup, term, LTV, payment to income, GAP and service contract prices, insurance, signatures.

Most of that day goes on proving clean deals are clean. The jackets that are not clean go back to the dealer with a pend reason the F&I office cannot act on, the re-signed contract misses the wire cutoff, and the dealer's floor plan interest keeps running. Dealers notice which lender funds fastest, and send their next deal there.

One weekend of contracts, from Monday 09:05 to the wire

Sablewood Federal Credit Union's indirect lending team opens Monday with 64 deal jackets from 12 dealers. Here is how Andre Polk's 2023 Honda Pilot goes from three exceptions to funded the same day, screen by screen, in the working solution.

  1. 01Mon 09:05

The weekend's contracts, laid over their approvals

    Renee Okafor · Funding analyst

Renee opens on the work itself: 64 contracts since Friday's cutoff — 39 clean, 18 pended with the fix, 7 that need a person — and the 11:00 wire clock with its 10:30 cutoff. Each signed contract is shown as the paper it is, with the credit approval laid over it in ten boxes that settle green or red.

“Pend · 3 fixes — Two are fixed by one re-signed contract, the third by an insurance binder. Nothing needs credit: the deal stays inside its approval.”

  2. 02One click

A clean deal funds without being re-proved

    Renee Okafor · Funding analyst

Yolanda Holloway's 2020 Ram 1500 from Hocking Hills Motor Co.: all 10 boxes green, 4 of 4 stipulations cleared, nothing to fix. Renee signs it with one click — Fund · $34,745.92 — into the 11:00 wire.

  3. 03The queue

Every jacket with its verdict and its reason

    Renee Okafor · Funding analyst

The funding queue holds the long list: buyer, dealer, amount financed, APR and term, hours waiting, stips in and the reason for each verdict. 61% were clean first time. Andre Polk's jacket became complete at 08:51, when the dealer uploaded the insurance card.

  4. 041 min 3 s

Eighteen terms beside the approval, three exceptions

    The agents

Six agents read the 23 documents in the Polk jacket. Fourteen of 18 terms match. GAP is priced $200 above the $995 program maximum for a used vehicle on tier B. The contract reads 21,406 miles while the signed odometer disclosure, the buyer's order and the title application all read 24,106 — the digits are transposed. The insurance card names no lienholder.

Off-approval always goes to credit. Here nothing does: every fix keeps the deal inside its approval.

  5. 05Stips

Three of four stipulations cleared, one open

    Stipulation clearer

The pay stub from Columbus Regional Health is dated 18 Sep; verified income of $6,166.66 a month is 1.3% below the stated $6,250. The utility bill matches the application address and the Ohio licence is valid to 2029. The Lakeshore Mutual card names no lienholder and carries a $2,500 collision deductible against a $1,000 maximum.

Never clears a stip on a document that does not name the buyer.

  6. 06Recomputed

The Truth in Lending box ties; the GAP price does not

    Contract math and add-on checker

The amount financed is recomputed from the buyer's order and ties to the contract to the cent: $37,360.38. APR, finance charge, amount financed, total of payments and the payment schedule all tie, and the Holder notice is present. The service contract at $2,695 is within its $3,000 cap; the GAP waiver at $1,195 is $200 over.

  7. 0709:12

One pend notice, with the exact fixes

    Renee Okafor · Funding analyst

The funding recommender drafted the notice to Kyle Brandt, the F&I manager at Hollister Ridge Auto Group: re-sign with GAP at $995, so the amount financed becomes $37,160.38 and the payment $667.81; put 24,106 miles on the re-signed contract; send a binder naming Sablewood Federal Credit Union, ISAOA/ATIMA, with deductibles of $1,000 or less. Renee sends it. Kyle reads it at 09:14.

“Everything else is clean: rate, term, stips, signatures. Send these by 14:30 and the deal goes in today’s 15:00 wire.”

  8. 0810:41

The re-signed contract, laid over again — every box green

    The agents

Kyle re-signs with Andre by e-signature and uploads a binder. The agents lay contract EC-26-55190-R1 over the same approval: 24,106 miles, GAP at $995, Sablewood named as lienholder, deductibles $500 / $1,000. Ten green, none red. Renee funds it at 10:44 — $39,116.45 in dealer proceeds — into the 15:00 wire.

  9. 0910:50

The 11:00 batch, released by two people

    Renee Okafor and Warren Haldane

The batch and booking agent built the 11:00 batch: 39 deals, every one clean, $1,290,253.24 amount financed and $48,464 dealer participation paid with the wire. Renee signs the release with its meaning recorded; because it is above $1,000,000, Warren Haldane, the contract processing supervisor, co-releases it at 10:52.

The agents build the batch. A person releases every wire — two above $1,000,000.

  10. 10Every month

    Which dealers pend, and why

Luis Ferreira · Dealer relationship manager

Funding time by dealer over 30 days: 837 deals funded, a median of 6.3 hours to fund against 3.4 business days before August, 73% clean first time. Hollister Ridge's most common pend is insurance without a lienholder — 34% of its pends — so Luis sends Kyle a coaching note about binders.

Ask in plain words

Ask about any deal, dealer or batch

The funding team can ask in plain words — or tell it what to draft. Every answer points to the document it rests on.

Why does Andre Polk’s deal pend?

Three things, all fixable today: GAP is $1,195 and the cap on a used vehicle is $995 — re-sign at $995; the contract says 21,406 miles and the signed odometer statement says 24,106 — same re-sign; the insurance names no lienholder and has a $2,500 collision deductible — new binder. Everything else matches the approval. The rate is at the 8.89% cap, not over it.

Draft the pend notice for Hollister Ridge

Drafted for Kyle Brandt, in plain words — three fixes and when it funds: re-sign with GAP at $995, so the amount financed becomes $37,160.38 and the payment $667.81; put 24,106 miles on the re-signed contract; send a binder naming Sablewood Federal Credit Union, ISAOA/ATIMA, deductibles $1,000 or less. If it arrives by 14:30, the deal goes in today’s 15:00 wire.

Which dealers pend most often, and why?

Last 30 days, lowest clean-first-time: Ashbury Car Company at 61% (proof of residence missing), Lakeview Imports at 64% (add-on above program cap), Hocking Hills Motor Co. at 66% (signature missing). Hollister Ridge is at 71%, and its top pend reason is insurance without a lienholder. A coaching note on binders would move the most deals.

Is the 11:00 batch ready to release?

Yes. 39 clean deals, $1,290,253.24 amount financed. Every one has 18 of 18 terms matching and 4 of 4 stipulations cleared. It is above $1,000,000, so Warren Haldane releases it after you. Cutoff is 10:30.

Governance

An analyst funds or pends every dealAgents recommend; they never fund. Clean or not, every deal is signed by a funding analyst, within her own funding limit.
Off-approval goes to creditAny term outside the approval, and any stipulation waiver, goes to the credit analyst who made the decision. No agent changes a credit decision.
Program caps are never waved throughAdd-ons are never accepted above the program cap, and stipulations clear only on documents that name the buyer.

Questions

What funding teams ask us.

What is indirect auto contract funding automation?

Software that takes a dealer's deal jacket from the moment it is complete to a funded deal: it checks the signed contract against the credit approval and the dealer program, clears the stipulations, and tells the funding analyst whether to fund or pend. Indirect Auto Contract Funding does this with six agents and leaves every funding decision to a person.

How does it check a contract against its approval?

It lays the credit approval over the signed retail installment contract in ten parts — buyers, vehicle and VIN, odometer, Truth in Lending, payment schedule, price build, add-ons, insurance, Holder notice and signatures. Each part turns green when it matches and red when it drifts, with a flag that says exactly how, and opens the source document at its passage.

Does it clear stipulations automatically?

It clears proof of income, residence, insurance and identity when the document proves them — the right name, address and date, verified income within tolerance of stated income, the lienholder named and deductibles within limit. It never clears a stip on a document that does not name the buyer, and a waiver goes to a credit analyst.

Does the AI fund deals or release wires?

No. The agents recommend; a funding analyst funds or pends every deal, clean or not. A person releases every wire batch, and above $1,000,000 a supervisor releases it too. Auto-funding is a setting, and in the working solution it is off.

What does the dealer get when a deal pends?

One notice in plain words with each problem, the exact fix and when the deal will fund if the fix arrives by the cutoff. When the corrections come in, the agents lay the re-signed contract over the approval again.

Can we set our own program rules?

Yes. Rate markup cap, LTV by program and tier, payment to income, GAP and service contract caps, stip freshness, income tolerance, insurance requirements, wire batch times and the second-release threshold are all settings. Changes are versioned and on the audit trail.

Which systems does it work with?

Your e-contracting and dealer submission channels, your loan origination system for the approval and stips, the documents in the deal jacket, your dealer agreements and program rules, your loan servicing system for booking, and your treasury wire process.

How long does it take to go live?

The Agentic Solution Engine builds and deploys it from your requirements — your dealer program, credit policy, stipulation rules and a sample of past deal jackets — and it goes live once every quality gate has passed. We will walk you through it on your own contracts first.
