One missing miles claim, from the app to miles credited
Corvane Airways runs the Corvane Waypoint program from its Chicago O'Hare hub, with partners including Kyma Air and Tasman Crest Airways. At 21:42 CT on Oct 15, Gold member Marena Hartwell writes in the app: her flight to Frankfurt never credited. Here is what happens next, screen by screen, in the working solution.

What the agents did overnight, and what needs her
Grace Okafor · Loyalty Service LeadOvernight the agents read 1,284 missing-miles claims and matched each one to its ticket and flight. They credited 1,016 — 2,844,602 miles, each inside Grace's limit — and left 142 that need a person: above the limit, a mismatch to judge, or a denial to sign. Twenty-one auto-credits are in today's sample for her to check, and 12 claims are held for the fraud team.
Ticket matcher · CV 118: “Marena Hartwell’s outbound was missing because the travel agency left her number off; the ticket also drops a letter of her name. Explained, credited: 6,318 miles.”

The claim drawn against the coupon, every difference explained
Ticket matcher · Mismatch explainerRC-26-30418 sits in three columns — what Marena claimed, the ticket and coupon, and the boarding record — with a line for every field. Ticket 381-2400118201 coupon 1 is flown, CV 118 ORD–FRA on Sep 3, seat 22A. Two fields differ, and both are explained: the ticket says HARTWEL, one letter short, but the booking's email and date of birth are the account's; and Sep 4 is the arrival date of an overnight flight that left Chicago at 17:55 CDT on Sep 3. Match 98%.
Below the match line, a person decides. The Mismatch explainer never changes a name on an account.

6,318 miles inside the limit — then checked, and the cause fixed
Earnings calculator · Grace Okafor$1,053.00 base fare and surcharge on the lifted coupon: 4 miles a dollar is 4,212, and Gold adds 2 a dollar, 2,106 — 6,318 miles. The Claim guard finds no other credit for the coupon on any account, six of six checks clear, and the Notice writer tells Marena in the app and by email. When Grace opens today's sample of one auto-credit in 50, Marena's credit is first; she presses Looks right and adds the profile note the agents proposed, because Lakeshore Travel booked QX7M4D without Marena's number.
“Note added — future agency bookings will be matched to Marena’s account.”
- 04Above the limit
A codeshare and a downgrade on a partner flight
Mismatch explainer · Earnings calculatorJonah Pruitt, Platinum, claims CV 7011 SYD–LAX on Sep 27, operated by Tasman Crest as flight 11. He paid business; Tasman Crest's flown file has him in premium economy, seat 38D, after an aircraft change, and the $1,860 fare difference was refunded on Sep 30. The terms say miles follow the class flown: 7,488 at class W plus the 100% Platinum bonus is 14,976 miles — above the 10,000-mile limit, so it waits for Grace.
“If you want to make the downgrade up to him, a goodwill credit at the business rate is CR-03 and needs your reason.”
- 05Signed
She decides with a reason code
Grace Okafor · Loyalty Service LeadThe decision shows the member, the flight and what the agents propose, and every reason code the claim can take: CR-01 credit as matched, CR-02 credit with an edit, CR-03 goodwill at 22,464 miles at class J, ask the member for a document, query the partner, send to the fraud team, or a denial by its reason. Grace credits it at the class flown. An edit, a goodwill credit or a denial against the match cannot be signed without a note for the record.
Goodwill credit outside the rules is lead only; the reason goes on the member’s account.

Every claim that needs a person says why
Lena Marsh · Loyalty Service AgentLena works the 142 claims that need a person, each with one line from the agents: deny an award ticket, deny a no-show with the coupon still open, deny a flight 14 months ago when the limit is 12, deny a Kyma Air basic fare that earns 0% on the chart. She filters by reason or channel, searches by member, ticket or flight, and logs a claim from a phone call while the caller is on the line.
Claim reader: “Each of the 142 that need a person says why: above the limit, a name or date to judge, a partner rule, or a denial to sign.”

A partner's flown files are two days late
Partner agent · Tobias ReyesTasman Crest's flown files for Oct 14 and Oct 15 have not arrived, and 23 claims wait on them. The Partner agent checks for the file every hour, matches waiting claims the moment it lands and, if it is not in by noon, tells Tobias Reyes in Partner Relations and drafts an email to the partner desk. The partner's earning chart and its 10-business-day query agreement sit beside the list; Kyma Air already has this morning's query batch of 41 coupons.
The Partner agent never approves a bill and sends only the coupon data the agreement allows.
- 0806:22 CT · held
A claim sweep held, not denied
Claim guard · Ruth AbernathyAccount 4400 9031, opened Oct 9 with no flights, claimed 8 sequential tickets between 01:12 and 03:08 CT, each in another passenger's name — 34,116 miles held. The Claim guard found three more patterns: a coupon already credited claimed by two new accounts, an edited boarding-pass photo, and a new account claiming 2025 flights. Ruth Abernathy, the loyalty fraud analyst, confirms each hold or releases it with a reason.
“A held claim is never denied by an agent: the fraud team decides.”
- 09Before anything is sent
Every member told why, in plain words
Notice writer · Grace OkaforThe credit notice to Marena went out at 06:16. Eighteen denials wait for a signature, each with its reason and the record it rests on — “We can’t add miles for it because the ticket was refunded on September 18” — and an offer to look again if the member has a boarding pass or receipt. Grace reads the drafts and signs and sends them; nothing is denied without her.
A denial is sent only after a person signs it.

People set the limit, back-tested on last month
Grace Okafor · Elena BrandtAuto-credit policy ACP-3 lets the agents credit up to 10,000 miles when the match is at least 95%, with a sample of 1 in 50 and 30 days to reverse. Grace slides the limit to 15,000 and the Earnings calculator replays September's 18,312 claims: 412 more a month without a person, and people would have changed 12 of the agents' credits instead of 11. She proposes it; Elena Brandt, Head of Loyalty, approves before it takes effect.
“Never without a person: denials · goodwill · fraud signals, and a first claim from an account under 30 days old.”
